How can it be?

"You plead my cause,
You right my wrongs,
You break my chains,
You overcome,
You gave your life to give me mine,
You say that I am FREE!!!
HOW CAN IT BE???"
-Lauren Diagle, How Can it Be?

This song has been on my mind for the last few days and it has reminded me of where the Lord has brought me from.
Realizing that I stood guilty before a righteous God.
Realizing the I was dirty and needed to be made clean.
Realizing that with one decision made to turn, repent, and run to Christ, I was finally set FREE.
Free from the bondage of sin, free of guilt, free of shame.

Hallelujah, thank you Jesus!!
I am so thankful for this beautiful redeemed life...

Judah wasn't so sure about the elephant head :]

28 Weeks, 1 Day and thoughts on being a Momma

Cardi: Gift, Scarf: Mall [$5], Shirt: Hand-me-down [Free],
Leggings: Motherhood Maternity [$20 B1G1], Boots: Gift

Y'all, I am in the HOME STRETCH!! Only 12 and a half weeks left until Gideon's due date!!
Crazyyyy.

How far along? 28 weeks 1 Day [in the photo which was taken Sunday]
Total weight gain: 20 lbs last time I was weighed
Maternity clothes? Yes
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Sleep is okay
Best moment this week: Snuggling a lot with my youngest. He had a fever all day Sunday and all he wanted to do was snuggle. That may seem weird that it was a "best moment" to me, but I love loving on my babies when they feel sick.
Miss anything? Being able to drink more than one cup of coffee or tea. [probably won't change]
Movement: Yes, feeling and seeing him move a ton :]
Food cravings: Cookies
Anything making you queasy or sick? No
Gender: BOY!
Labor signs: None, though I thought I was having some Braxton Hicks. It turned out  to be just my ligaments pulling and hurting soooo much! Since that day, I haven't had any pain so all is good.
Symptoms: Indigestion and craps in my FEET!
Showing? Yes!
Belly button in our out? In/out
Wedding rings on or off? Off at the moment because my engagement ring has a prong that needs fixing and my wedding band was irritating my finger and making it raw. This happens because water gets trapped under it when I wash my hands, which is very frequent.
Happy or moody most of the time: Pretty even keel this week :]
Looking forward to: Our maternity photos this weekend!

I have been incredibly blessed since I started attending a Christian mom's group that brings in lots of mommas from the community!
It is called Mom2Mom and it is kind of like MOPs but it is for mom's with kids of all ages.
While the moms get together the kids get together as well and have a little Bible lesson of their own.
My kids seem to really enjoy it!

The heart and vision is that the older women would teach the younger women, as in Titus 2: 3-5.
I am always hesitant to join these type of groups just because I can be a bit of an introvert, but like I said it has been a total blessing!
I wanted to share a few points from today that I took away with me.
  • There are lots of expectations put on us as mothers: cultural, family, and our own. Which one do you struggle with the most? [for me, it is my own!]
    • examples of my own expectations:
      • you're never good enough
      • she's a better mom than me [I compare myself to Mrs. Duggar A LOT! I admire and respect her so much!]
      • stuck in mommy guilt
  • 4 things God calls us to as mothers
    • Provide: physically and emotionally [Luke 11:11-13 and Eph. 6:4]
    • Protect: from inner and outer harm [Matt 18:5 and Prov.22:15]
    • Prepare: teach them God's way! [Eph. 6:4 and Prov. 1:8-9]
    • Pass it on: Leave a legacy. Legacy and generations matter to the Lord. [Prov. 22:30-31]
  • The TOO much trap: Are you a...
    • Spoiler mom
    • Hovering Helicopter mom
    • Mama Einstein mom
    • A perpetual preacher mom
  • A gracious environment allows us to raise STRONG kids/adults
  • Education should be about LEARNING not WINNING
  • Don't ask "am I a good enough mom?", but rather "am I a growing in GRACE mom?". [2 Peter 3:18]
  • And to conclude it all, "I'm a mom called to be a mom to my children".
I felt like that was a wonderful load of sweet goodness to think on and act on.
I am, again, SO thankful for this group of women and look forward to what is to come.

Now onto the anniversary stuff :]

We had about 8 hours to ourselves on Saturday and it was a really sweet time.
I had been reminiscing a lot about how we used to go out to a local coffee shop downtown prior to baby days and for some reason that was the first thing I wanted to do!
Haha.
So we both ordered lattes.
Benjamin got a scone and I got these SUPER yummy fresh spring rolls that came with a homemade peanut sauce.
Yum, yum describes all of it well.
We ran into an old friend and his wife while we were there and had a great chat with them!
It was a totally unexpected treat.
We then headed to Lexington to do some shopping and then eat dinner later that evening.
We both walked away with STEALS I tell you!!
I only spent about $25 on a new pair of maternity skinny jeans and a nursing tank that would have originally been about $70 total!!
Benjamin walked away with a pair of $70 straight leg jeans from the Gap for $5 that just happened to fit him PERFECTLY!
I wanted to cry I was so proud, lol.
Even though I don't "extreme coupon" any more, I still LOVE a more than great deal and carry coupons in my purse at all times.
Anyways, we had a wonderful relaxing day together and I am so, so  happy to be married to the man God allowed me to have as my one and only.

Here's to the rest of our lives together.

ps. I make him chocolate covered strawberries every year for our anniversary and Valentine's day so we ended the night with them. Sooo good!

Looking forward to: Our 6 year wedding anniversary in less than 2 weeks!

These photos were taken at a restaurant that we have gone to annually since moving to KY when I was in 6th grade.
We go each year to celebrate my grandpa's birthday.
The belly photo is just funny to me because my mom had that umbrella and she looked at me and said "this matches you!".
Haha, so we took photos with it.

The second photo is also so funny and I love it!! Me with my parents, classic!

The third photo is of me with my lover man.
We haven't taken too many photos together lately and it was his idea to get in front of the camera together.
I don't know why but it literally made my heart happy to hear him ask for someone to take our picture.
It can be hard, when our world revolves around little people, to remember the sweetness that we have with each other.
It's hard to have date nights because we have chosen to only have family watch our kiddos and my parent's are the only ones who live close enough.
They are raising three grandchildren as well and so I hate to even ask them at times because they have their hands full already.
But!!!
In this moment I was reminded of the sweetness...
The tender love...
The romance.

And so, I am excited for our anniversary.
I am excited to reminisce with him and dream about the future.
I am excited for a quiet moment with just the two of us, because he is my favorite!!

Here's to 6 years!!!

Sailor's 3rd Birthday, Monster's Inc. style...

I will be the first to tell you that I am not big on themes, but I decided to go with one for Sailor because he is currently in love with all things monsters, dragons, trucks, etc...
You know, boy things :] .
I went with Monster's Inc/Monster's University since it is one of his favorites at the moment.
Walmart had a great selection to choose from as well so it made it easy to pull off!

Here are some photos from the party.
The kid had a blast and loved having all of the family over to celebrate.
What a blessing and joy he is to our lives.
He has changed it forever and I pray we serve him and love him well according to the grace of God.
We love you Sailor and pray the Lord Jesus Christ will bless you and keep you all of your days.

Everyone had fun, ate lots of food and cake, and then we ended the night with Sailor's new movie "How to Train Your Dragon".
I love having children and I love planning their parties!!
It is so fun to watch them light up with excitement realizing they are being celebrated.
